Nose piercing problems. If anyone can help...feeling really ugly right now...
So as some of you know, I went and got my nose pierced about two months ago.  I absolutely loved it and all was going well.  Until the fateful night when I stupidly was drying my face and the towel caught on it and yanked it.  I went in the next day and the piercer took it out, rebent the jewelry, checked for infection, and reinserted it.  Which hurt like a bitch directly after, mind you.  I felt like I had been punched in the face.  Well, ever since that happened, which was probably about four weeks ago, I have had this stupid scar (see ugly photo).  I went in and had the piercer look at it because I was worried it was infected or a keloid, but he assured me that it was hypertropic scarring, something that is VERY common with cartilide piercing because the area is so damn sensitive.  If you even move the thing, it can cause it.  It's no cause for alarm and he said it will go away, it's just a matter of waiting.

The question is that since I know a lot of you on here are pierced (because I got just a lovely response last time, thank you!) have you ever dealt with this?  I know it can happen all over the body, not just the nose.  I just feel SO ugly, it sucks.  I used the H2Ocean spray they gave me at the tattoo parlor, I've been doing sea salt soaks and using emu oil as well.  Just yesterday, my doctor advised me to do aspirin pastes where I crush aspirin and mix it with water to make a paste that goes over the piercing.  That way it gets medicated.  So I am taking care of it.  My body doesn't seem to like the emu oil,  It makes the scar all crusty, so I stopped using that for a while to see if it makes a difference.

But any help anyone could give, that would be WONDERFUL!!!  I hate this - I just feel so ugly and stupid because I let it get yanked on.  And the guys at the tattoo parlor are so nice.  They say that happens a lot and not to feel bad, but I do.  Oh, and please bear in mind, it's NOT infected.  If it was, those guys would have had me see a doctor right away, they're very good that way.  Plus, there is zero pain, except if I rotate it, which I'm not supposed to anyway.  My sister keeps telling me not to touch it, which I feel is a total downfall on my part because I'm always touching piercings and my face in general.  Also, I'm going to be getting a titanium screw next week cuz my skin is super sensitive and I was advised that is excellent for sensitive skin.

Thanks, hon. I appreciate it and am starting to feel better after reading more about them. I found out that I'm not doing anything wrong, so I don't feel like such an ass, lol. :)

I had my eyebrow pierced and did the same thing, only it was my hair around it that I yanked.

It's scarred like that permanently but hidden mostly behind my eyebrow. So other than treating it with something for scars, I can't be certain of what to do.

Don't you just hate that?

I've been reading into these scars a LOT and I found an image of one on a belly button and realized I had the same thing when I got that pierced. It took a while to heal (like a YEAR), but it looks awesome now. I had the same scars on my hand for a year when they were sliced open in a car accident. So at least I know how my body reacts to them.

Hopefully yours will fade over time. :)

I had one of those too when I had mine done at first. Mine didn't last long and I know it's not pretty but it'll go away. People aren't even likely to notice and if they do just tell them the situation and that it'll go away. They won't judge you or think it's ugly or anything.

Your sister's right: DON'T TOUCH IT! I know it's hard not too (when I cleanse my face every morning I used to knock it or something) but that's the best thing to do. Knocking it out is incredibly painful (it still was for me a year after mine was done) but it'll heal eventually. Just don't touch or twist it and it'll heal much faster.

Got no advice on products to use unfortunately. Just keep cleaning it gently with sea salt, try not to knock it and cheer up because nobody's gonna notice your scar! Don't feel ugly!

Hope it gets better for you soon!

I agree with xxrachiefishxx I had just a tiny one when I got mine done but it lasted a good while, but after I stopped picking is when it went away. My suggestion would have been salts as well seeing as thats what helped me w the snorness but your well on your way! Just give it time :)
