Okay, so I'm thinking of changing the title of my website. I wanted to get some advice from people who have done that in the past on things like if it is a real pain because you have all these people wondering where your site went. I have wanted to do this for a long time but never came up with a good name. One came to me the other night and I'm really liking it. My current title, Lady Manson Video Database, is the way it is because when I initially made the site, it only housed my music videos. Now there is a LOT more there, so I feel the title is very limiting.

If you have an opinion or any advice, let me know.

The names I've been giving my LJ are usually the lyrics to the "theme" song of the layout. So, now it's Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Otherside" because of my header. The title for the journal is a lyric from there. Are there any "themes" for your website. Try to think of it that way...

That's kind of a tough cookie to crack. Personally I have seperate sites for videos and fanart etc, but people like for example Bre doesn't, who's named her place "Primordial Souls", which doesn't exactly connect to either of them but more to what she wanted it to be named.. uh, if that makes sense? Anyway, I would suggest thinking about what your site contains, in terms of verses (buffy, supernatural, terminator etc) and perhaps go from there. Or if you have a favorite song that would match perfectly with art and videos. My own sites are usually touched by the word "chosen" because of my obsession with Buffy, so maybe a word or something that connects to your absolute favorite show or actor/actress would work. Or perhaps look into different meanings of the word "fanwork" or something. Like Dee, you can also play on words and get a very unique name for a site that people won't easily forget.

Maybe I'm not really helping here. I've never renamed a site, and I usually just get a "eureka" moment when I create it that I realize what the name's supposed to be. But we all work differently.

I'm gonna stop my rant now ;)

EDIT: wanted to add this as an example. My gallery isn't named after the fact that it contains pics, it's named after one of my favorite songs by Christian Kane - L.A. It's a song I've loved for a long time, especially the line "she's pretty as a picture" which ended up fitting perfectly with the gallery. So you see, sometimes things just comes together without you being aware of it. I hope that'll happen for you too :)

Good luck with coming up with a name. Sorry but i can't really think of anything. The website have now was originally just a Moonlight website but now it's many fandoms so the name is still Moonlight Dwelling . I am wondering about a name change myself but I think I'll keep it since it sort of fits everything. Feel free to mock me but what about calling it Lady Manson? Okay I'm going to shut up right now since I've been no help at all. I'm so jealous because I've been trying to get pie and failed again today when I went out pie questing but at least I have Supernatural to watch tonight. The title makes me giggle.

I say GO FOR IT.

Yes, it's a pain to move stuff to a new server. Yeah, it can get a bit tedious visiting affiliates and other places to post your new address. But people will follow you. Particularly if you are able to leave a new link at your old site for a month or so.

I've been contemplating the idea myself, but I don't have a new title I want. :s

YAY, I'm looking forward to this new title of yours.
